Attention all external hard drive users:

I found out what made my hard drive crash. Well, it didn't exactly crash. It "fried"! Apparently, they don't have a cooling fan. If they are plugged in all the time, they get over heated. So, if you use an external hard drive for any reason, transfer the data to it, then unplug it. That should prevent you from experiencing what I did!The tech specialist was able to retrieve all my data...YEAH! Only $250....OUCH!

Wow that is good to know! I will remember to unplug mine. I am so sorry that you had to pay so much to get your info back but I am glad you got it back.

Thanks for the advice! We don't have an external hard drive--yet...but we're thinking about getting one. That's good info to know. I'm glad that you got all your data retrieved...that would be a lot of work to have to do all over, or to lose all together...even though it did come with a price!

Ouch is right, that price does sting. I am really glad that you were able to get your info back though. I'll have to make sure that I always unplug mine now.

Dang! Yeah that is an ouch! but at least your got your stuff back! Curt's old lap top over heated a lot and we had to buy a little fan to put by it when we used it! I'm glad that we got a new computer before it died!!
