I have had so much fun learning new things about photography. I have shot many sessions at Kathryn Albertson's Park and the Boise Depot. I am feeling the urge to branch out, but am stumped on other places to shoot. So, to all my Boise'ns, PLEASE enlighten me on a fun place to shoot. If you aren't from the Boise area, still shoot me with some ideas.

I don't know if this is much help....but! my friend just had her sons pics taken at a her grandpas farm and did some really cute shots against an old barn, a tractor and even in a boat. So if you could find some abandoned buildings or a farm.... Another friend had a photoshoot done where the photographer just hung around and took shots of their everyday life around the house. I loved them because they were so real and not posed ya know??? One shot that I loved they were just all playing in mom and dad's bed. Sorry I don't know a specific location!
So I don't have any specific spots either, but I really like the pics that have kind of an urban feel. I think it'd fun to get some done downtown in front of the old, crappy buildings and dirty steps. If you need someone to practice on, just let me know! haha
Well, I don't know the boise area very well, I lived there for a short time, but I like anything outside. If you can find a garden, even better, I love fall leaves in reds oranges and yellows. We got married in Oct. and the fall leaves made for incredible pictures. Just a thought.
A few places that I thought about were down in Eagle, they have alot of cool looking buildings, waterfalls and such. You could also try the Botanical Gardens down on Old Penitenuary (Spelling?) Road off warm springs. I don't know if you have to pay to get inside or what but I have heard it is beautiful. You could try along the river/green belt. Or even try Nampa. There might be some cool buildings or old farms that might have some cool stuff to use as backdrops. Sorry I'm not more specific, but hopefully this gives you some ideas on where to look. I'll keep my eye out for cool places for pictures, K!
I just did a photo shoot at the Old Pen, it turned out great. Lots of Stone architecture cool doors. Inside there are rose gardens. That part you have to pay to get into, but you can use the outside, the Women's ward and one other building I think with out paying. The gardens/gazebo/arch at the bishops house as long as there isn't a private party there.
There is also some great spots near the Anne Frank Memorial behind the library. There is some interesting stone work, a great bridge, and also the tunnels where the green belt goes under the bridge. I've always thought it would be fun to take sidewalk chalk and write on the walls of the tunnel. Also, if you go down the greenbelt just a little way from there, there is a boardwalk/ pier thing. There are a couple of picnic tables along the greenbelt too, even a couple right down by the water.

I've seen some done at storage units. Their usually painted fun colors that can create a nice back drop.

As for places for pictures...I love anywhere outside, especially in the fall with the leaves and colors, and then in the winter after a fresh snowfall...I don't know any specific places for scenery, though. Have fun!
I agree...old pen, botanical gardens, downtown!!! Also, Ann Morrison Park on the Albertson's Park side has a fun bride and ponds/streams. Love it. You are amazing!!!
Hey Mandie, one of my professors in college once told me that good images always have contrast of some type, light and dark colors, alternating patterns, different shapes, etc. I think this could be taken further to include contrasting ideas...a bride at a bus stop, for example. One of my favorite pics that you have taken is the couch in the middle of the grass, it just makes you do a double take. That being said, I have no real destination for you to check out, but I like the contrast of ideas that you have been showing.
Oh, I also meant to add before. Cassia park has a great ivy/vine covered fence along the back. If my memory serves correctly it turns a brilliant red in fall.
Bring your own rake for giant leaf piles.
I wish that everyone that read my blog would leave a comment too!! But I think that a fun place would be one of the parks, I think it is in Nampa, that has an airplane in it. We went there with Curt's sister a couple of years ago and it has a river that runs through it I think, and the plane would be cute for little boys pics! Or even that park by the capital is really pretty! Oh, and I saw the COOLEST picture!! IT was at my brother-in-laws in laws house. It was their family picture, they were all in Black shirts and the photographer took all the pics seperate and then photo shopped them into the main picture! It was the coolest thing I have ever seen! The background was black, classy and very neat!

I don't know Boise too well, is there any cool places by the lake when you are going towards Idaho City? I remember staying at your guys place and then went over to Stanley,Id and we drove by a lake or resevoir. Don't remember the name. I have seen a lot of cute pictures at beach/lake scenes. Good Luck! Find a field with tall grass and wild flowers...I love those pictures. Sunrise or sunset are great times for taking the pictures too.
Umm i think the prettiest place around soda to take a picture would be...just up past grandpa dewey's lot in bailey creek there is a water fall, not a big one, but it is really pretty (especially in the fall).
